Good site for stock footage?
Posted by Jana on May 5, 2005 at 12:55 amLooking for some good stock royalty free footage, that is decently priced.
Any suggestions?
Thanks!

May 5, 2005 at 3:59 amdo a google search for stock footage companies. What do you mean by “Royalty free”? Unless it’s public domain you’re gonna pay for it. Even if it’s public domain, you’re going to pay for search fees, dubs etc. Fees are based on your intended usage… world wide rights in perpetuity is going to be expensive. It goes down from there.
Any of the trade magazines like “Post” or “Millimeter” or “Studio” or “Videography” run oodles and oodles of ads for stock footage companies. Check them out.

Try Getty images (use royalty free), Corbis, and Artbeats.

It’ll probably go for close to $400, but that’s still a great savings.

May 5, 2005 at 6:36 pmWe own that set and I’ve gotta say it is crap. Has anyone looked at VideoTraxx? The video is fuzzy, bad zoom ins and outs, bad color, you can see hair on the lense not only that but the software that comes with it is crap to. Never had time to send it back but we should have. Anyone else seen these problems?

May 5, 2005 at 8:59 pmNope. I’ve got all 3 VideoTraxx and I LOVE them…I use them daily. If they were to offer the VidTraxx libraries in HD that’d be sweet, but it’d also be cost (and storage) prohibitive.
To each his or her own.

May 12, 2005 at 7:59 pmMixed emotions – we love Digital Juice because of their Jump Backs sets (great stuff). Yes, I was a little disappointed in VideoTraxx, but only because I had wished the shots were longer (some’r only 5 sec). Other than that, it was pretty diverse and interesting – the weather and NASA stuff rocks! (And yeah, that Juicer software does suck.) But you gotta remember, buying just one of the volumes is still cheaper than any videographer’s day rate.
Funny story – my Exec Producer once asked me if Digital Juice’s stock footage was seamlessly loopable, like their animated backgrounds.
