ya are you running a quadro 4000 or some other nvidia card?

one of mine needs to be returned, as it kernel panics on longer
exported sequences, but its twin in another room, same exact
setup is stable.

The quadro 4000 is single slot and will definitely work well. (I have two)

Hi Gates,

are you running Premiere 6.01?

I found that update fixed alot of the hangups during export.

prior to that, rebooting the machine, then opening the project and
exporting was sped up tremendously.

I do the long exports (just did a 72 minute doc) by sending
the sequence to media encoder (hitting que button)

I have auto save on and it had no affect on the export time.
It did it unrendered in almost realtime, though it was just a single
1080i video track with some titles on it and a few blown up shots.

Ya, very annoying.

I wish microsoft would implement a temp admin privilege the way os x does:
Need admin privileges? prompt me for an admin password just for that operation.

They seem hell bent on making things easier (they say) but all they
succeed in doing is making it more complicated. I’ve despised every
version of windows after XP.

I’ve always had the audio issues as well.

I have an older multibridge-extreme in a mac(thanks for still supporting that driver bmd)
and now also a decklink studio in another mac.

The only issue I have is audio lag.

If I hit play to start with a yellow line in premiere, it’s way off synch.
if I stop and restart playback its fine.

It’s been very consistent from the get go. going back to cs 5.5

I suspect this is a mercury transmit issue at the heart of it.

I wholeheartedly concur with that.

I have it running on all the pc office systems at work and home.

Hey Tom, what was the final invoice cost on the Z820?

It will be interesting to read about your experiences
switching from MAC to PC.
