I’d like to echo what james posted. Vegas works well with large images as long as they are under 1600 wide. I do find though, the closer they are to that number, the more likely you’ll have moire video artifacts occur that may require a further downrez in photoshop or some slight blurring to fix it.

The upside is of course that it works so fast. I just did a 289 picture movie show for a friend of mine and the whole thing took about 2 hours to do, where in the past it took me nearly a day.

But to answer your original question, I don’t think it is necessarily a digital SLR vs regular digital camera that is the issue. Make sure whatever you use comes with a nice lense as that is whats really going to matter as long as your equal to or above 5 megapixels.

These kind of odd errors are normal for these 2 apps.

Though they should be working.

This can easily be done (I’ve done it a few times) with the free ifoedit utility.

here’s the instructions:

FORCE FIRST PLAY:

Compile your disc so you have a Video_ts folder.
run IfoEdit
click on ‘open’

choose VTS_01_0.IFO

double click to select the VTS_PGCITI

double click to select the VTS_PGC_1

double click the 000008 heading (prohibited ops)

check all, save and exit.

I’ve also seen 960×540 (square) resized down to 720×480(non-square)

60i/60P mode: 1/60 (OFF), 1/100, 1/120, 1/250, 1/500, 1/1000, 1/2000 sec.

30P mode: 1/30, 1/50 (OFF), 1/60, 1/120, 1/250, 1/500,1/1000 sec.

Looks like I just needed to close AE and restart it once I set
the preferences, audio, preview, bit rates/khz and stereo/mono settings to match the audio clips.

It still mixes, but only for a second or two then it starts rendering.

before I had to wait 10-15 seconds for these particular comps.

Thanks Dave, I’m well aware of what AE is used for
(I’ve been using AE for over 6 years)

I’m not trying to make any adjustments to the audio at all.
Already did that with audition. 🙂

But this ram preview audio mixing thing is for the birds.

Any other app out there would not waist time on any part
of the audio, if the audio imported matches the preview
settings.

like most video editing apps don’t require rending if your
files match your project presets.

This is something that should be fixed in a new version of AE.
