ram preview with audio…WITHOUT Mixing
Is it possible to do a brief (10 second) ram preview with
audio without AE waisting my time doing the mixing it does
before the preview frames?In theory if you set the audio preview rate under preferences
to the exact bitrate, khz and stereo/mono setting it should
not need to “mix” it at all because there is nothing to convert
as it matches the audio properties.any ideas?

Thanks Dave, I’m well aware of what AE is used for
(I’ve been using AE for over 6 years)I’m not trying to make any adjustments to the audio at all.
Already did that with audition. 🙂But this ram preview audio mixing thing is for the birds.
Any other app out there would not waist time on any part
of the audio, if the audio imported matches the preview
settings.like most video editing apps don’t require rending if your
files match your project presets.This is something that should be fixed in a new version of AE.

Looks like I just needed to close AE and restart it once I set
the preferences, audio, preview, bit rates/khz and stereo/mono settings to match the audio clips.It still mixes, but only for a second or two then it starts rendering.
before I had to wait 10-15 seconds for these particular comps.
This is what I was wanting.

Glad you solved it. AE still has some annoying bits.
By the way, any changes to preferences don’t “take” until you close and relaunch the app.
Guess you know that now. 🙂
