[Bob Zelin] “If you are going to purchase a Blackmagic Multibridge product, you have made an excellent decision.”

Indeed. My work has been made so much easier by this fantastic product.

  • It sounds like the preview setting in final cut is not quite right.

    Try another setting.

If you’ll have digibeta you definitely want a blackburst generator.

NTSC/PAL REF IN is where the black burst goes in.

Also composite video goes in as well.

I have my black burst normaled to the REF IN and when I used a cable
on the patch bay from a composite deck it shuts off the black burst
connection and puts the compoiste video in. works great.

I’d email black magic support directly for your other problems.

[Miro Simeg] “1. what is NTSC/PAL REF IN on Multibridge for?”

Thats your composite video input that also doubles as your black burst input.

I connected it to a patch bay normaled to a black burst cable, so it gets black burst when no composite video is coming in, but switches to composite and turns off the blackburst when a cable is plugged in.

recompressing them one time with at least 6mbs average shouldn’t be too bad.
But beyond that wouldn’t be recommended.

Hey Chris, did they happen to mention exporting to compressor
from a fcp 5.1 timeline would process in a reasonable time?

I’m talking about the fact that exporting directly from fcp to compressor
takes much longer than exporting a quicktime and compressing it that way.

I really wish they’d fix that.

Joe I’m curious, could you list the exact specs your employing for spot delivery?

I keep telling the people in my town that would be the way to go as all the stations in town are digital and that betasp dubs are a waist of time and effort.

Have you delivered any HD transport streams yet?

Does DG Systems deliver TV spots with mpeg2?

    Do they do HiDef yet?

Thankfully I’ve not needed DG for the last 4 years.

If their support cannot help you, I’m not sure where you could turn.

a lot of people have mentioned the 2-pass vbr encoding being broken in compressor 2. use 1-pass for now until apple gets it together.
