Compressor 2 is locking up
1.42 G4. Mirror Door. Using FCP 5.0.1 Quicktime 7.0.4 2 Gig Ram. When I try to make a 2 Pass mpeg 2 out of Compressor and just a regular export my computer locks up. When I export a one pass mpeg 2, it’s fine. This didn’t happen when I was using FCP 4.5

a lot of people have mentioned the 2-pass vbr encoding being broken in compressor 2. use 1-pass for now until apple gets it together.

I was told by an Apple rep at NAB that the Compressor 2-Pass VBR problem is fixed in FCP 5.1

Hey Chris, did they happen to mention exporting to compressor
from a fcp 5.1 timeline would process in a reasonable time?I’m talking about the fact that exporting directly from fcp to compressor
takes much longer than exporting a quicktime and compressing it that way.I really wish they’d fix that.

I have found that either way, it’s excrutiatingly long, but he did say that that issue had been fixed as well. I don’t have 5.1 yet, so we’ll see.
