  • MPEG2 Encoding for DG SYSTEMS with MCCODER

Anyone successfully used MainConcept’s MCCODER to encode MPEG 2 files per DG SYSTEMS spec? We’re trying to upload to the DG Dropbox and are trying to find help configuring MCCODER.

MainConcept and DG support is about as useful a square wheel.

    thanks.

Does DG Systems deliver TV spots with mpeg2?

    Do they do HiDef yet?

Thankfully I’ve not needed DG for the last 4 years.

If their support cannot help you, I’m not sure where you could turn.

I agree, DG and Mainconcept are both lacking in the support dept. If you already have the full version of Mainconcept, you might want to try using FastChannel instead of DG Systems. I was up and running with them in three days, and on the fourth day sent various combinations of 8 spots to 35 stations. Only thing about MainConcept, if you’re using it on the Mac, the encoded files may be darker than your original. Mainconcept support has verified this as a bug in the current version that will be fixed in the next version.

We too are trying to make MPEG2 files for DG Systems, and not running into a lot of Mac solutions. We need something that will create 25Mb/s Program streams, either as a standalone app, or from AVID or FCP.

Can anyone point me to a good product? I see the MCCODER is being discussed here – can you give me a rough price and where you may have bought it?

    Thanks!

DG Systems and Fastchannel have now merged to become DG Fastchannel. You’ll have a lot more success uploading mpeg-2 files to Fastchannel than DG, so you should probably give them a call before you buy any software.
