Is the 20″ version twice as much (3k)?

I’m peeved that Sony doesn’t make an HD-SDI input card for my
20″ Pro CRT. It has 900 lines of resolution.

Are you watching Lost in HD? It looks amazing over the air on my setup.

The stations are ultimately going to render it into an mpeg2 transport stream.

Call them and ask for the specs.

You could easily do it with compressor and deliver a gorgeous picture that
would fit on a CD.

More stations ought to be doing this as it would save the millions of beta/digi beta tape
stock that gets used each year.

Darya, are you using a black magic design product to feed the LCD?

I posted a lookup table there that I use with my multibridge extreme
that feeds my Dell 24″ LCD. I run it side by side with my Sony professional CRT.

The lookup table gets the Dell as close as is possible imo.
The color and contrast is almost there with the color looking a little more saturated.

But Like Shane said it will never be spot on because it lacks that ability.

Lots of us have made that same error.

The multibridge has an HDLink built into the unit.

I think the live key function only works on a still frame like a bug for network tv.

Robin, check my link below to your original post. The lookup table that I’ve calibrated for the Dell 24″ LCD is there. It should get you much closer to proper settings.

You can’t monitor 10-bit on an 8-bit only display. unfortunately most LCD’s to this day are only capable of 8-bit gamut. some can do 10-bit but its only in the Gamma. That should all change soon with the upcoming OLED, SED and LED backlit displays that will emerge later this year / early next year.

I monitor on both a Dell 24″ lcd and a Sony broadcast 900 line SD monitor.

I monitor the lcd through dvi-d out of my multibridge extreme.

I do have a defined lookup table that matches my crt very close to the lcd.
(as close as is possible really)

What I have noticed is that the lcd colors are “richer” than the crt.

If your using your multibridge for dvi-d monitoring i would be happy to post
my lookup table for you.

Not sure if its helpful or not, but HDV does not really need an Input solution.

I have the jvc hd100u and I capture the HDV footage via firewire.

I edit, color correct and whatever else, then nest that timeline into an uncompressed 10-bit
timeline (I have multibridge extreme btw and have done hardware downconversions while capturing the component inputs).

I never go back to HDV. I only use it for aquisition.

It works very well on a quad G5 system. I can scrub the timeline as fast as I want anywhere and there is no performance degradation.
