Best way to Color Bar (color correct) LCD Displays
Posted by Darya on May 23, 2006 at 3:44 amHi:
We need to color calibrate our Dell LCD displays to color bars. However the Dell doesn’t give all the options as far as contrast and such. How do you guy calibrate your HD displays to color bars. Thanks.

May 23, 2006 at 3:47 amI don’t use the Dells for color correction. They aren’t designed to be used in that way…and you are seeing why. You cannot calibrate them like you need to.

May 23, 2006 at 4:34 amDarya, are you using a black magic design product to feed the LCD?
I posted a lookup table there that I use with my multibridge extreme
that feeds my Dell 24″ LCD. I run it side by side with my Sony professional CRT.The lookup table gets the Dell as close as is possible imo.
The color and contrast is almost there with the color looking a little more saturated. But Like Shane said it will never be spot on because it lacks that ability.

So what do you guys recommend as far as an affordable displays goes to accurately monitor HD footage for color correcting?
Thanks

May 23, 2006 at 8:01 amSony PVM-14L5. $1500. 800 Scanlines. Component in that accepts a signal from the KONA or DECKLINK component monitor cables. Or get the optional HD SDI card for $1500. $3000…darn affordable.

May 23, 2006 at 4:03 pmIs the 20″ version twice as much (3k)?
I’m peeved that Sony doesn’t make an HD-SDI input card for my
20″ Pro CRT. It has 900 lines of resolution.
