    Hi there,
I work on Mac G5 Quad + FCP and I have problems connecting Multibridge Extreme with Sony UVW-1800p. I don’t know what to do with ref. video problem and I can’t export from FCP to Sony deck (maybe it’s the same problem).
    What should I do?
Do I need blackburst generator? If so, which one? Where can I get it?
    Thank you
    Miro

    Hi,

A blackburst generator for the UVW-1800 is recommended.

Alternatively, (sorry Bob!) you can use this temporary workaround.

Connect the Y output of the Multibridge Extreme to the REF IN of the deck. Turn off the 75 ohm switch and take the REF loop out and connect it back to the Y component input of the deck.

Tnx Kristian, already tried that. The result is this:
    – UVW-1800 is telling me that “A BLACK/WHITE SIGNAL IS BEING USED FOR REF VIDEO. SUPPLY A COLOR SIGNAL WHEN USING THE COMPOSITE OUT OR S-VIDEO OUT.” So I guess thats ok 🙂
The other problem is that I can’t get video signal from FCP to Beta deck. I can’t find a problem… On a monitor (connected to Beta deck) I have a desktop background form computer, so I guess that video signal is OK, but I can’t get video or audio from FCP. And when I try to “Edit to tape” from FCP I get video out, but it looks like a “Purple haze” or rather “purple noise”. I’ve never seen anything like that.
    Any ideas? Anyone?

2 more questions about the same thing:
    1. what is NTSC/PAL REF IN on Multibridge for?
    2. I have Extreme HD card in PC. Does it have ref video signal and can I connect it somehow to Beta deck?

[Miro Simeg] “1. what is NTSC/PAL REF IN on Multibridge for?”

Thats your composite video input that also doubles as your black burst input.

I connected it to a patch bay normaled to a black burst cable, so it gets black burst when no composite video is coming in, but switches to composite and turns off the blackburst when a cable is plugged in.
