I leave the codec renderer at HDV until I’m done, then I change it to ProRes (deleting hdv renders first) then render that out.
Very clean!

You need raid of some kind to get the best RT performance.

Not for me.
I still get dropped frames after a few seconds capturing 720P with ProRes.
Also looks like the rendering of motion files in final cut is still dog slow.

Thats a real shame because quicktime conversion does a much better job of downconverting HD to SD than compressor does on its highest quality setting.
As good as any hardware downconverter I’ve seen.

I just did a 1 hour musical shot with 3 V1U’s in the 24P mode.
worked out great, but only the 1080i60 firewire basic easy setup worked, the other (specified for sony hdv) did not.
Someone else had some 24pA only project going and they are having a helluva time getting it to work.
Unless your doing a film out there really is no reason to edit
natively at 24Pa. 24P 60i works fine. -

Jerry do you mean a multiplexed (1 file with video+audio) mpeg file?
Transport Streams are typically HD and Program Streams are typically SD.
That would sure be nice if compressor 3 actually had the ability to build a muxed file instead of separate streams.
