Is this a solution to the gamma issue that has plagued quicktime for as long as I can remember

Thats not normal.
You should experiment with modes (cinema is what i use) and
color temps (I use normal)
There may be some other tweaks you have to do.The blacks are more stable on the 10G models (this years) than the 9G models. My 9uk at work has a kind of black flutter in certain dark scenes of movies or shows, yet my 10G model at home doesn’t have that problem.

If you can’t get it to go, just export the timeline as an .aif
and boost that file in soundtrack, then put it under the original
and disable it after you line it up.sometimes you have to do things the hard way 🙂

There’s always a risk.
but you can minimize it by purchasing an exact same make/model hard drive as your system disk and clone it with the free carbon copy cloner,that way you take no risk. If it busts it, you can go back
to the other drive the way things were before. -
maybe look into disk warrior to retrieve if fcp did in fact delete them.
I had this happen with soundtrack pro.
If you go to export the file and quit before the audio level indicators do their “quick bounce” IT WILL delete the original video file.
Not sure if the fcs update fixed that or not.

Is there a shear easy setup?
can it playback in realtime?
Are shear file sizes larger or smaller than ProRes?
I had no idea it was THAT versatile a codec.
I don’t know why Animation would be recommended over PNG.
To my eyes they look exactly the same only the PNG is much
smaller and takes a little longer to export. Microcosm is
a 64-bit PNG based codec if I’m not mistaken. -
If you want lossless with small file sizes for no additional cost then the PNG codec is what you should use.
It does take a longer to render though.

All too true, but I’m not sure they could have made it work at such a low cost without doing it this way.
In my opinion HDV/Mpeg works fine for aquisition only.

Final cut is more stable than premiere.
