  • Alas, there is no way to do this in FCP. I wish we could. Feature request for next version please.

They were supposed to have fixed that in this version but I just did a recompress from HDV to 10bit SD and my constant speed clips ended up being variable speed clips. Doesn’t look completely fixed yet…

this should work. but be awared that it takes very very long. But if you only have 5 minutes of footage or so, you can do it over night. I’ve only had limited testing and to be honest, I haven’t gotten it to look that good.

I have a 50 min broadcast doc that I offlined and onlined in PAL 10 bit, so I took 3 minutes of it and tried to convert to NTSC via Compressor 2. It didn’t look good at all but I’m sure it’s just me not tweaking the settings enough.

The other option is the Graeme Nattress conversion filter – much faster for $100.

From what I understand, dual core is two processors within one. So dual “dual core” machines will mean a mac with 4 processors – quad processors. But I believe software will have to be coded or recomplied to take advantage of this.

Perhaps someone with more hard knowledge can chime in.

October 5, 2005 at 2:28 pm in reply to: My suggestion for match frame… what do you think?

In version 5, you should be able to just select the clip you want to match frame from. Although it only works about 30% of the time for me and I don’t know why…

There is sub frame audio edit. Been there since version 2.

  • Since we’re talking about match frame….have you noticed that if you try to match frame by selecting the clip in the TL V2 or higher, it doesn’t work all the time. It works sometimes but sometimes it will still match frame V1 and I will have to use the autoselects to match frame higher video track.

And when it does work, it doesn’t work on the first frame. So say you have the same exact length clips on V1 and V2. If you put your playhead on the 1st frame, select clip in V2 and match frame – it will match frame V1. BUt if you move the playhead to frame 2, then it will properly match frame the clip in V2.

    WHAT’S UP WITH THAT?!?
