June 20, 2013 at 2:50 pm in reply to: Its possible to open AE CS5 project in AE CS4?

    Short answer: no.

Long answer: If I’m not mistaken, backwards compability only works for CS5.5 to CS5 and up.

Your last option would be to try this script (costs some $). Though you’ll still need access to CS5 for the export part.

  • You should search for specific directions in whichever particle system lightwave has that encompasses conditions, behaviours and forces, otherwise you won’t be able to guide the particles.

In 3ds max and c4d that would be thinking particles. Unfortunately I don’t know LW.

And you won’t be able to do that in AE without a lot of faking stuff up.

Well, Layers Styles came late down the road. So no one here but the adobe developers can tell you why its inner working are what they are.

But the real question is, if there are thousand other ways to do it already… why should it?

Trapcode particular has to render it’s particles own blur. And I’m not sure it has any other iris than the rounded default.

In the caps tab of the extrude nurbs: Change it to fillet caps, add some steps and then try to put that inside a hyper nurbs. You may have to add vertices to the base spline to keep the corners in place. But to make exaclty like the photo you may have to model it that way.

if you’re trying to change black to something, just make sure lightness is also selected on the hue/lightness/saturation dropdown.

Then lower the treshold to some minimum values untill you try to just mask the black out.

    It should work

June 13, 2013 at 6:59 pm in reply to: auo-trace/stroke issue, after effects cs6

Auto trace traces the boundaries of an image, Where the pixels actually change value. It has no clue what you have draw and how to re-draw it.

You have to either do that mask manually or use the scribble effect to use the masks you got from auto trace and get the fill stroked in a semi automated way.

I can expand on that if you’d like, but first check the effect out.

June 13, 2013 at 6:53 pm in reply to: Sine wave with increasing frequency

I’d use Dan’s expression for the sine in a null and parent that to another null and use it’s scale to do that change in frequency.

The make the actuall sine i’d draw that line with trapcode particular linked to the first nulls position. That way i’d had every controll possible on the looks.

  • No you’re not missing anything. The only reason I said how to do with Element 3d instead of the AE way (that’s easily acchievable with a script) was because I though he needed some specific 3d look, beveled edges or reflections and etc.

But then you’re absolutly right, he should just open up that project and get it from there.

I believe that effect is caused by the camera pan and the relatively low frame rate. There’s nothing actually wrong with your video. Rendering in a higher fps or slowing the camera movement may make it disapear. But untrainned eyes won’t even notice it.
