Is it a luma matte? or a simple alpha?

maybe this will come a little late but… If you want to double the space between the photos(that are actually particles) just cut in half the emission number!

Do you have exactly round numbers on those keyframes? Does the curve viewer shows any indication of change between 2 hold keyframes?

From everything you said, it has to be some(sort of) bug. I can’t think of anything else and never experienced anything like that.

If you emmit them properly Trapcode particular can make several photos follow a 3d path, yes… the question is: how do you want it to look on sharp curves? It won’t be a ribbon.

Why won’t you use that snake plugin?

  • Hi, I’ll tell you what I would do and maybe that will shed some light.

I tend to never use stroke unless I need some taper (then I go for 3d stroke), so I would copy every single path and paste to a shape layer. This way I’d have a built in wiggle through the wiggle paths modifier.

After setting that up, I’d create a new comp with a hard clipped animated B&W noise/texture, with just a little bit of gray. I’d use that as a matte to roughen my edges a bit and create some lightning effect.

  • import your dancing footage, drag it to the create a new composition button. Create a solid, put it below the footage and set it’s tracking matte to alpha inverted.

Render that out to a format that supports alpha as Dave suggested.

[John Davidson] “my Apple TV screen saver can do it.”

I can’t say much about what’s going on since I haven’t seen the video. But I’m betting your screen saver outputs way more than 30fps.

Then you’ll want to trim them all to the shortest clip’s duration, won’t you?

If you want to lengthen some clips there are other matters to consider. You can’t simple change duration. You have to either speed up or slow down each clip by some amount. And thats seldom the desired expected result.
