matte controls query
Posted by Chris Brett on October 14, 2013 at 7:54 pmHi –
— probably a daft query but the matte controls ( refine / choker ) seem to have stopped working ..
… presumably you apply the effect to the matte layer not the ‘fill’ … ( ? ) …..
….. anyone got any ideas please ? ?

October 14, 2013 at 8:27 pmIf you have a luma, you have to remember that you may be choking the edges that are black(or white if inverted luma matte) and that may not make a diference to the actual white matte colour.
On that case you have to precompose to be able to choke the alpha.

October 16, 2013 at 1:23 pmIf you have Sapphire, you can use S_MatteOps on luma mattes directly.
If you wish to choke a luma matte with Ae’s built-in tools, you can use the Set Matte effect on the luma matte layer, setting it to use Luminance. This will generate alpha that can be manipulated with the Matte Choker.
