What exactly are you trying to use as an obscuration layer? Because I don’t think it works the way you’re thinking it does.
You’ll need a circular masked 3d solid, with auto orient positioned at your planet’s position with the same radius as your planet.

See if they accept any other format.
See if you can split the videos into more parts, most projection systems (that I imagine is your final use) support multiple imputs. We usually use .mov JPG, it can render out almost any size (our last one was 8378×720 for one part) its quick to export, relatively small filesize. And the loss of information is not very noticible when you’re seeing it 40m afar.
Also I’m almost certain that if you generate some intermediate file, quicktime pro can export h264 wider than 4k. But I won’t advise in using it. You really should get more information from the client.

I’m assuming you want to get the current position of a layer to keyframe a camera animation. The simplest way would be to keyframe and animate your camera inside this precomp, then copy/paste the camera to the parent comp and compensate its transformations for any space/time discrepancies.
You can also use expressions that access and translate any space coordinates of any layer inside any comp to any other comp. (e.g creating a null and “linking it” to the layer you need to address, so you can copy/paste as you’re used to.)

Create a object matte and do it in post. Thats what I would do.

I think you’re getting things all wrong. If your objects are not animated, they shouldn’t have any keyframe animation in AE.
IF you have an animated camera, your camera within AE should have keyframe animation.
Your objects center (in your file) are at the world origin (0,0,0) thats why you are seeing them in AE at 0,0,0 also. If you want the external composition tag to be where, lets say, a polygon face is, you’ll need to align your object center to that face.
