Trapcode Particular and Obscuration Layers
Posted by Mamuka Kavtelishvili on April 14, 2015 at 2:59 pmI have a rendered 3D Scene which i imported from Cinema 4D in After effects also i’m using Trapcode Particular and want to twist particles around the planet
*see the picbut i cant activate abscuration layer in particular, because obscuration layer must be 3D but i cant’t turn it 3D because of my camera which i imported from cinema. how can i solve this? thank you!Mamuka Kavtelishvili replied 11 years, 4 months ago 3 Members · 8 Replies -

April 14, 2015 at 3:41 pmMake the layer 3D and parent it to the camera. It won’t move.

Try my script keen-3dLayerTools [link].

April 14, 2015 at 9:02 pmWhat exactly are you trying to use as an obscuration layer? Because I don’t think it works the way you’re thinking it does.
You’ll need a circular masked 3d solid, with auto orient positioned at your planet’s position with the same radius as your planet.

April 14, 2015 at 10:08 pmi’m trying to use my 3d rendered footage with alpha as an obscuration layer. i never had a problem with that but this time 3d camera is imported from 3d program with my rendered files.

April 15, 2015 at 2:25 pmThen you don’t use it as a particular obscuration layer…just use the alpha to set the matte of the particular layer.
Thats how it should be done, but it wont solve your problem…since you need 3d data to obscure…and not a 2d alpha information. You’re approaching this the wrong way

April 15, 2015 at 3:34 pmI always use abscuration layer when i’m working with particular and animating camera inside after effects but this time i think cinema 4d generated kind of different parameters for the camera.
anyways guys, thank you so much for your response and time 🙂
