  • [Hubert Blajer] “The only thing that comes to my mind is placing the screen footage on top of the screen but then i found that it is impossible to use camera without messing up whole footage”

What do you mean to “use camera”? If you are rendering it to be a footage you’ll end up with no camera at all!

[Hubert Blajer] “and also the reflections aren’t there obviously.”

Well obviously you’ll have to render them out too and precompose them on top, you know, like one would do with a footage. (render with a black screen and use it in screen blend mode on top having your screen comp as an alpha mate).

If your corner pin plugin doesn’t already have a scale property you’re doing this wrong. Anyway… you can copy paste each pin data do one of 4 nulls. Then re-link with expressions the pins to the nulls, now you can adjust with finer control, either by scalling it all with a centered null, or nudging the nulls into place, or changing the anchor points. You’ll have to see what’s best and what won’t work .

You should right click a keyframe and choose keyframe velocity, If you match its incoming and outgoing velocity (or check continuous) you should see no speed alterations within that keyframe’s frame. After that you just need to increase the keyframe’s influence to get a more smooth transition between the speeds.

every keyframe has incoming and outgoing velocity, if you match this value to the speed of your linear motion you’ll see no bumps. Essentially just pull that point up to match the velocity line and accentuate the handle’s influence so you get more easiness in.

Just keep in mind that your temporal interpolation has nothing to do with the spatial interpolation, so you’ll need to give some smoothness to that curves too if you’re animating in more than one dimension. (this too is usually the problem with bumpy movement when animating cameras in 3d space)

April 24, 2017 at 9:13 pm in reply to: AE Slideshow – please recommend

create a new composition. create a camera. Import your photo layer, set it to 3d. duplicate it, displace it in the Z axis a few pixels and scale it back up (or down) to match the first photo. keep repeating this process as much as you want “parts” in the transition. now link them all in a centered null that rotates on Y.

Add a luma key with different values to each, so each layer displays some part of the image. (you can do some color key too).

Thats pretty much it. if you put some light leaks and color correction on top, you’ve got exactly what you see there.

April 22, 2017 at 3:58 pm in reply to: New After Effects update BIG PROBLEM

When you say new release, which version were you on before? If you’re jumping from cc 2014 to something newer, the new engine needs some time to cache before it can display things. It looks exactly like you have posted, did you gave it some time? I’ve had large illustrator files that needed like a minute or two before AE could display anything.

Where exactly is the effect? All I see is a 3d render of a model and some blurred background. I have no idea which effect you’re talking about.

April 17, 2017 at 4:50 pm in reply to: How to produce a glass rods overlay effect?

All I’m seeing on your effect is the refraction that overlaying glass would create. But with glass its reflection is more prominent than its refraction.

I think (not at all knowing the look you’re after) that adding some highlights and lowering that noise distortion would sell the effect better.

  • I’m not sure what this mocha plugin outputs to AE when you use its foreground/layer settings (I don’t use it). If its a mask just use that. If its coordenates, do the same as I said before (applying to a null). Or if you can output a black/white matte, use as a luma matte.

I suggest you search for mocha foreground element. Google should help you out. Good luck.
