The skeleton part requires knowlage in 3d modelling, camera and pose matching, dynamics, lightning, rendering and a lot of understanding of fumeFx (or similar plugin). With that done the artist just faded in by parts the next footage over the rest.
The second part involves sequencial cuts with lot of light leaks, exposures, noises, blurs and color corretion and two subject poses that end up matching into the final shot.
If you break it down into any of those sub categories maybe we can expand the explanation.

perhaps this is a stupid question but as a C4D user I gota ask. Why can’t you import maya’s camera into AE?

Assuming you used the correct interpretation for all videos within AE and the Twixtor plugin, I can only imagine that having fields may yield more data for twixtor to compute the vectors and recreate the in-between frames more smoothly.
As to keep using 60i over 30p. Since you’ve done the tests I imagine you’re the one to say which acchieved the better overall effect. maybe try to post a montage of your clips in vimeo to help others with the same issue decide? I’m curious about it too…

You can’t change the default value.
What you can do is create a script that sets the influence to 80%/80% and add a shortcut to it replacing the f9 key.

I’ll mess around with the prefilter and interpolation (low values) just to tune down any contrasted photons.

What about that intro that you can’t reproduce?
Do you know the most basic functions of After Effects? Like:
Creating a square layer?
animating scale?
duplicating layers?
pre composing?
using a layer as alpha matte? If you don’t, once you search for those terms, you will figure it out how to recreate that.

Have you tried turning off motion blur? Seems to be the old problem with layers occupying the same 3d space with motion blur on.

The xpresso tag is driving those values then, thats why you can’t scale.
I suppose you could either open the xpresso tag, find the links and remove them…or scale down by the values those custom data sliders/boxes offer.
Or maybe put it all inside a null and scale that?

Its because r15 doesn’t have the honeycomb array mode(that resembles a wall) in the cloner/matrix options. If you change it to grid array you should see things.
