    Hello

I’m trying to construct a circular wall out of bricks with a cloner object(s). I have four different bricks (having small differences in geometry) that I want to clone and arrange into a circular wall.
I can do this with the cloner object, and selecting the ‘radial’ mode, but this will only give me one level of a ring. Hence, I have to duplicate this cloner object several times, or put the cloner object itself into another (liner) cloner object, in order to stack (for example) 15 layers of the ring.
Is there any way to do this more efficiently?
Is there something like the ‘array’ mode for the cloner object, but with the ability to arrange it in a radial array, instead of a orthogonal array? I tried also using some of the effectors, but was not successful.
    Any advice is highly appreciated.
    Thanks

    Hi Manuel,

Perhaps I am misunderstanding your question, but what are you finding inefficient about using a linear cloner object to stack the rings? Once you have it set up, adding layers of bricks is simply a matter of increasing the count, so I don’t know how it could be any more efficient. Is your circular wall similar to the one I have created below? If not, I may again be misunderstanding your question.

Jim, thank you for your response.
Yes, this is one way of doing it.
But I would eventually like to affect instances, that go across layers. For example removing individual bricks, to insert a window. If there would be a possibility to do this in a single (curved) array cloner, then it would be much simpler, as one would only deal with a single cloner object. Not sure if I’m making sense. Here is a screenshot of what I’m trying to do (though later with more extensive openings, etc.)

You should bend a matrix, with either the honewcomb patter or the grid array one. Then use Cloner to clone your bricks into that matrix. To remove bricks to create windows, just use the mograph selection tool with effectors.

    See example: 11354_circularwall.c4d.zip

    Hello Cassius

thank’s a lot for your effort.
But something doesn’t seem to work for me. Maybe it’s because I’m using C4D version 15. When I open the file you uploaded, I don’t see much. (see screenshot)
Or am I doing something wrong?
    thanks for your feedback

Its because r15 doesn’t have the honeycomb array mode(that resembles a wall) in the cloner/matrix options. If you change it to grid array you should see things.
