It all comes to your interest in keeping a good relation with your client, here we never give away project files unless requested prior to the job start.

Petros said “The building is theirs and they can do what they want with it. ”

I understand from this analogy that the building here is the final delivered video format… and not the tools that created it from ground up.

But if you need a value for comparison, I believe we would charge something around 30% of the production cost, considering they would use it again for let’s say, 1-5 more videos.

I would like to add that if I leave the “use compression” checked (during illustrator save). my illustrations won’t appear half the time…

neither reloading nor replacing them seem to help, they will sometimes randomly disappear during render or project reopening. (it doesn’t happen with all the files…but it happens a lot, big headache until I discovered the cause)

This information doesn’t show at the page Todd linked. Have you heard of this before Todd?

    CS5 here.

This should help… read the collapse transformation part.

3D layer interactions, render order, and collapsed transformations

I would have a car lit and unlit shot (perhaps more with different sets), light streaks and masking in AE. Those reflections seem far off from the light that was supposed to be emitted from those streaks anyway.

I’m not sure I’m following what you said. You’re saying you cropped an image in photoshop and in after effects it didn’t appear cropped?

I can only imagine you used the crop tool with the hide option selected(there’s a hide and a delete option) and then you imported a psd. There’s no other way a cropped IMAGE would appear different otherwise.

If that’s the case you can still tell AE during importing to crop it to the PS canvas.

  • Leave continuous rasterization on OR keep increasing your vector’s compositions resolution while reducing its scale on the main composition untill you don’t see it’s jagged anymore. (for example, scale your vector by 300%, multiply by 3 it’s comp res, then divide by 3 this comps scale on your main comp)

If you choose to leave rasterization on: This sort of bug happens sometimes…mostly when you have linked layers between different comps…just remember to purge everything before you render, or preview…and it should work out fine.

then turn motion blur on for all of them or create an empty adjustment layer and place it right below(layer # composition wise) your “fading” layer so it will break the 3d stack.

you should try kronos from the foundry if you can… it interpolates frames on an accelerated footage and creates that kind of motin blur. OR at least close to it.

apply the grow bounds effect (with increased value) prior to the mirror effect.

Aren’t you just running out of RAM for the preview? You can try to purge everything (EDIT -> PURGE -> ALL) before previewing to get the most of it…but that’s it.
