    I looked at that tutorial about 2 years ago. This is something different. The reflections can’t be made in AE like that.

    I was thinking this might be 3D’d in Maya and then light streaks added with specular highlights from the car and surrounding objects.

    From what I see, the reflections come from the shape of the car and the lights used in the shoot. It seems that Particular was used to create the light streaks and positioned in such a way that they match the actual reflections.

    I would have a car lit and unlit shot (perhaps more with different sets), light streaks and masking in AE. Those reflections seem far off from the light that was supposed to be emitted from those streaks anyway.

    It was made using long exposure photos.

    That’s what I was initially thinking as well. But how could it mesh so seamlessly and flow like that?

    After composing all photos you can do time remaping.
    I think they did that flow because of slowed video.
