I can’t figure out what’s different… but mine still doesn’t work. I’ve moved my point light all over the place, but whether close or far from my floor… neither my Text nor the Floor show up at all.
The reason I don’t have an EXTRAs layer is because when I turned off yours it didn’t seem to affect my goal at all.
Sorry I can’t send you MY comp… I’m in v7.

Go with black and white… you can then force the gray scale a bit better than the color space.

Ugh — sorry… I don’t understand.
IF I put it above the Lux Adjustment Layer it works great from behind… but it messes with the front lights.
When I put it below (behind) the original Logo Plate the Adjustment layer still affects it.
I tried messing with Track Matte… is that what I should be using?

Ok — I figured out I could add additional REACHes and this stopped my mini spots from shining thru…
BUT — I’d really like the opening to look like the LOGO is solid and the light is building AROUND it.

Here’s a tutorial I did that might answer some of your question…
As for the AE question… it really depends on what you are going to do with it. If it’s 4:3 then it’s really 720×480. If you want a 16:9 sequence it’s more like 853×480 or something. If you try and size it up you’ll loose quality.

Also — I should say — I’m kind of old school when it comes to using these…
They make life easier and more time to spend with the kids… but I’ve spent a lifetime YELLING at people who want plugins for things I’ve spent HOURS/DAYS developing for a single use — now here they are… for all us simpletons to use and abuse.
