Ok — I got all my spots working and figured out how to create different Adjustment layers to get what I wanted.

However… no matter WHAT I seem to do, I cannot get a POINT light to reflect onto a floor. It reflects fine when the Adjustment layer is turned OFF, but doesn’t when it’s ON. The Point Light controls don’t have the same controls with respects to controlling other layers in the comp.

    My order is:

    Adjustment Layer
    Light
    Camera
Floor — btw… anything I should keep in mind about the AA material’s options for this solid? Also, I’ve tried rotating its X 90 and -90 but neither have an affect on the Lux light.

Oh — It was THIS movie file that got me thinking of this effect… https://www.trapcode.com/movies/bulb.mov

Doesn’t seem to be a tutorial on that movie. AND the two tutorials for LUX on the trapcode site both assume you know how to set up a scene, so there’s no discussion as to anything special he might have done with his floor.

    Thanks,

    Hi,

I can’t help you with your own project as I have no idea what you did. But here is an example that may help you:

I can’t figure out what’s different… but mine still doesn’t work. I’ve moved my point light all over the place, but whether close or far from my floor… neither my Text nor the Floor show up at all.

The reason I don’t have an EXTRAs layer is because when I turned off yours it didn’t seem to affect my goal at all.

    Sorry I can’t send you MY comp… I’m in v7.

    Ugh.

    Hmmm

    Figured it out…

I hadn’t turned off the Adjustment layer thingie in the thingie-ma-doodle.

    Ugh.

    UGH!

    Sheesh.

    Thanks though.

    Hey,

Why are you applying Lux to an adj layer? This could be your problem.

You can still send me your aep if you have problems. I also work with AE7. I just didn’t install Lux on it.

    Salut.

Sheesh — I’m not sure!! I read it somewhere, I’m sure I did!!

    lol.

Well — that could explain a lot.

Thanks… I did get it working when I took off the adjustment button.
