Activity Forums Adobe After Effects Lux Question…

Ok — I figured out I could add additional REACHes and this stopped my mini spots from shining thru…

BUT — I’d really like the opening to look like the LOGO is solid and the light is building AROUND it.

    Thanks,

Lux does not calculate volume shadows. You have to duplicate your logo plate layer and use it as a mtte on the Lux layer.

    Ugh — sorry… I don’t understand.

IF I put it above the Lux Adjustment Layer it works great from behind… but it messes with the front lights.

When I put it below (behind) the original Logo Plate the Adjustment layer still affects it.

I tried messing with Track Matte… is that what I should be using?

    Thanks

    Now you’re getting it.

Like you mentioned, it all works when the Lux layer is placed below your graphic. But it doesn’t work because then it messes up the other lights after the camera move.

So, what I would recommend is splitting your logo “billboard” layer into two layers just at the point where it nearly dissapears when it’s halfway through the camera move. Place the layer above the Lux before the split and below the Lux after and it may look more realistic.

    Good luck!

I’m actually fine with it now… it moves fast and the audio helps:
