March 14, 2025 at 3:20 pm in reply to: Using Credit Roll as a Teleprompter

I think this entire post is so important. It might even wake up those on the fence about acquiring a teleprompter.

There is a simple and relatively inexpensive alternative to the issue posted. Elgato teleprompter has come up with a brilliant answer. Even the best professional teleprompter for TV broadcasts don’t have what Elgato “brings to the table.”

If you have seen news broadcasts which show the TV cameras with the black housing for their teleprompters, below are monitors so the on-air TV hosts can see the other person their talking to via webcams. What you see are their eyes panning down. I, personally, have spoken, face-to-face with the CEO/top producer of these teleprompters, CueScript, and have mentioned, “why not incorporate the webcam image within the mirror/teleprompter instead of below the teleprompter? This guy blew me off! This was at NAB in Las Vegas last year.

Take a look-see at the Elgato Teleprompter. NO, I do NOT work for Elgato and have NO affiliation (other than the fact I DO own this Elgato Teleprompter) with the product. I’m just an interested person looking to help others.

November 24, 2023 at 2:42 pm in reply to: Match/Sync edits from Master Camera with other cameras

Gary, sounds like you’ve got your work cut out for you as you didn’t include the other six audio’s with the 6 cameras. Once all seven cameras are on their own timeline, it would have been really easy to sync up the audio’s with their waveforms. Then, just mute those 6 audio files. Now, it seems you’ll have to eye-ball the six with the master video and audio file.

November 3, 2023 at 7:33 pm in reply to: Vegas Pro/ Magix

I’ve been a veteran Vegas Pro user since version 3. I was the first to use live video chat rooms for, at the time, Sony Vegas Pro live questions and answers as well as live/realtime tutorials. User asks a question on “how to” and a live image of Vegas Pro is on their screens to see how it’s done. As time has gone by, there had been a lot, I mean a lot of video tutorials on YouTube by veteran users such as Douglas Spotted Eagle, Tim Duncan as well as, yes, the current owner of Magix Vegas Pro, but even John Rofrano hasn’t produced decent tutorials for YouTube. Yes, I know, there are tutorials on the Magix site. Some are hard to take, I mean the accents of the person giving the tutorials are not worth the time. You now don’t see those veterans on this/Magix site as they’ve “jumped ship” to other brands such as Resolve. Speaking of….it amazes me that the pop-up ad for Davinci Resolve is on it’s competitor’s (Magix Vegas Pro) webpage!

By no means do I mean to bash Magix Vegas Pro, this is only a pure and simple observation.

I’d like to see veteran Magix Vegas Pro users produce and publish to YouTube, decent tutorials so others can benefit by the veteran’s talent.

July 31, 2023 at 2:10 pm in reply to: Vegas Movie Studio 8 won’t open

David, sorry to hear of your problem.

Possible issues might be your computer became corrupted…or a virus.

First possible fix would be to install Ccleaner, a free software that will do a good job of cleaning up old files. https://www.ccleaner.com/ccleaner/download?ppc_code=012&ppc=a&gclsrc=aw.ds&gclid=CjwKCAjwt52mBhB5EiwA05YKo7PKfYytRXLhb1cmJcLG9PoRu63EhpRyLz5c2bJrkPPEDq8kVMuQZRoCw_cQAvD_BwE

Second, complete a Safe Mode. And, NO, don’t ask in this forum how to do it, do as Brie has suggested in the first topic on this Vegas Pro forum.

Then, install your Vegas Movie Studio.

*** Report back to this forum if my suggestions helped get your program installed. You’d be helping others who might have, or might have in the future.

July 10, 2023 at 2:21 pm in reply to: picture in picture tracking

Johnny, you’re right, there is no tracking for what you want. You can either step up and purchased a third party motion tracking software, such as Mocha or use what Vegas Pro 17 has and that’s opening up your “Event/Pan Crop” at the upper right side of the intended clip you want to use for your small TV clip. At the lower left section is the “Mask” check box. Once you click that, I suggest you go to YouTube and search for Vegas Pro tutorials on inserting a masked clip.

Pierre, open “Project Properties”…near the bottom (by default, it’s checked) is a checked box that says: “Adjust source media to better match project or render setting.” UNcheck it, click “Apply” then “OK.”

June 4, 2023 at 2:00 pm in reply to: Sony Vegas 20 Jittery Rolling Credits

What I meant by “text” is, in your case, the rolling credits you’re using. Just above the timeline, click the tab “Media Generator” tab to create the text style you want to use in your project. Drag the text style you want and from there you’ll see the “effects” tab where you can adjust the feather.

Julie, on the top menu check in “options,” “preferences” there is a tab called “deprecated features,” enable legacy text and any other feature you might also use. Relaunch Vegas Pro and you’ll see all the needed features in the “text” options, such as “feather.”

May 4, 2023 at 3:19 pm in reply to: Sony Vegas Pro Replace Background

Robert, as an after-thought, I am guessing this is your first venture in this type of project. With that in mind, here’s some info to help….your project (video) should be on the first track. On the second track will be a solid color background which you can find on the “generated media” tab. Choose any color because you’ll use the eyedropper to change to your project’s sheet that’s hanging behind your talent. Try to get as close to the edge of the sheet where the color is smooth without the creases or dark spots.

Robert, hopefully, your camera is on a tripod, which makes this change much easier.

Here’s what you want (below). The tutorial is here…. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=efV4P3qBI5M
