I keep getting different stories and one time. I asked a question on here, and the guy said. It’s not Vegas anymore, it’s Magix ?

I I keep getting offers on my email. That says Vegas pro and in other areas its magic. So what is it Vegas? What’s the proper name, VEGAS PRO OR MAGIX?????

The main confusion nowadays is around the fact that it’s no longer “Sony Vegas”, but “Vegas Pro”. MAGIX is the company that owns & develops Vegas Pro since 2016 (before it was Sony developing it).

However, MAGIX does also have their own self-titled video editing software: MAGIX Movie Studio and MAGIX Video Pro. Those are completely separate applications from Vegas Pro – their own thing.

Yep, I’d say “Vegas Pro by Magix”.

By the way, I sure wish somebody there would put five minutes into a splash screen. What it is now looks like some kind of bootlegger did it. Zero pizzaz, and not even a mention of Magix.

I’ve been a veteran Vegas Pro user since version 3. I was the first to use live video chat rooms for, at the time, Sony Vegas Pro live questions and answers as well as live/realtime tutorials. User asks a question on “how to” and a live image of Vegas Pro is on their screens to see how it’s done. As time has gone by, there had been a lot, I mean a lot of video tutorials on YouTube by veteran users such as Douglas Spotted Eagle, Tim Duncan as well as, yes, the current owner of Magix Vegas Pro, but even John Rofrano hasn’t produced decent tutorials for YouTube. Yes, I know, there are tutorials on the Magix site. Some are hard to take, I mean the accents of the person giving the tutorials are not worth the time. You now don’t see those veterans on this/Magix site as they’ve “jumped ship” to other brands such as Resolve. Speaking of….it amazes me that the pop-up ad for Davinci Resolve is on it’s competitor’s (Magix Vegas Pro) webpage!

By no means do I mean to bash Magix Vegas Pro, this is only a pure and simple observation.

I’d like to see veteran Magix Vegas Pro users produce and publish to YouTube, decent tutorials so others can benefit by the veteran’s talent.

The software was originally published by Sonic Foundry until May 2003, when Sony purchased Sonic Foundry and formed Sony Creative Software. On 24 May 2016, Sony announced that Vegas was sold to MAGIX, which formed VEGAS Creative Software, to continue support and development of the software.
