it’s also possible to Bake to Alembic in R20 (much easier) or export to alembic in earlier versions. That will do what you want too

it looks like 4 versions or the same object, so that only has to be modeled once, each of the objects is symmetrical so only half would have to be modeled and placed in a Symmetry object. Making the curves could be done with hand modelling in a SubD or an extrude of a spline of the shape in an FFD… there have to be more ways than those as well

keyframing the value necessary (for the lights as they flicker on it could be Intensity if they are regular lights with volume visibility or Luminance Brightness/Color in a luminant material on objects). For the poly faces it’s the same sort of thing keyframe the alpha or transparency

  • how much do you understand about pixels vs vector – screen vs print? If you zoom close in on an image the pixels are large, everything is blocks and no straight diagonal line is ever straight, it’s a series of steps made of the pixels. Your clone grid is like the pixels on an image the size of your clones is like to the pixels of an image and those are large ‘pixels’. If your diagonal line goes across one of your blocks the block can only raise or lower depending on if the black/white is over the clone origin. Half the clone can’t raise, it all has to go together because it’s one piece.
I would think your clones blocks need to be a lot smaller which could give the impression of a straight line but it would still be made of small blocks if you zoomed in enough.

should be your Applications/Maxon/Cinema 4D R17/Library/Scripts (or close if I’ve missed something) folder

don’t have lite or know if it has any limitations in it’s subD. Editable objects should work with SubD or is that not true? And, if not SubD, what about the Bevel tool or the Bevel deformer to round edges?

it’s possible to do something like this with
    – a displacement texture
    – you could use the Wrap deformer to wrap your spline extrudes around the cylinder but they would need to have Caps set to Regular Grid to be able to bend smoothly. Then getting the extrudes to smoothly blend in to the surface would be hard unless you have R20 and the Volume Builder/Volume Mesher
    – Sculpting
    – and you could subdivide the cylinder in the right way and subD that etc.

the displacement should (judging by some of the demos at Siggraph) be possible with the splines as a source in R20 as well.

a quick look and I can’t see what it is but just deleting the collider tag on cube.1 and the rigid body tag on cube in the f100 null and just reapplied them and it appears to work just fine

well you can hide everything on a layer from all managers but that doesn’t have a shortcut I’m aware of (which may mean nothing)

from the picture it looks like the donut, sprinkles, arms(?) have scaled down (or the icing is scaled up?) other than that can’t say and haven’t seen that.
