C4D Cube? Just turn on Fillet and set the radius. If you mean an editable cube select the edges and use the Bevel Selected Tool

you can’t add a texture to a spline because splines don’t render (not in this case anyway). Probably you don’t see your texture because of the angle to the front face. Try putting some other image in your material that has some bright color (just to see if it is there)

Unchecking Textures will turn off most things but not stuff like Danel etc.
The Illumination pass (in a multipass render) is pretty close but doesn’t have Specular you could just render those two in a multipass but if there is any color in the Specular (like in the default Danel) that will show in the Specular channel – you could always desaturate it in PS…

  • were shadows turned on in the lights you were shining on the cutout?

I see a difference in testing but maybe the setup is good for it (if your camera sees the entire road it won’t cull anything using offscreen).

Otherwise the only thing that crossed my mind is to cut the road up into chunks (or by doing selection sets) and adding a Hair Object to each chunk then use Xpresso to Enable them depending on the distance from the camera. Combine that with Offscreen culling (to not render the one’s you’ve gone by). Depends on the setup, how much of the road we see at any one time.

There’s probably a lot of ways but my example was using a compressed Capsule for the object with a Danel shader on it. Close above it is a disk with a white texture with full luminance on it. To get the disk to not show in the render but still cause the highlight it has a Compositing tag with Seen By Camera unchecked.

    Add light(s) to taste…

that looks like it was done in Photoshop but it can be done in 3D approximately like this (very crude) example
