you have to pick a start point after the first cycle since the first starts differently (obviously) I chose frame 61 to frame 102 (41 frame cycle it seems), baked that frame range to PLA then added a Time track put it’s keyframes at frame 61 and 102 then set the Time track to Offset Repeat for Before and After with enough repetitions to get to the start and end.

    which gives this

this is one way. It relies on the ability to apply a texture to a polygon selection that is not actually on the object but on a child. Initially used the Flat projection you had set up but changed to Cubic since it will spread across all the parts like Flat but will stick to the faces rather than deform like Flat. And removed the animation of the cube and the time parameter of the Plain effector and used the Plain effector to rotate 90° instead(in Parameter). And changed the Plain effector’s Falloff/Orientation rather than rotating the plain effector.

if the .stp is many disconnected polys it might have to be fixed before it will work but try turning off High Quality in the Boole’s settings first

The Dynamics Body tag on the Extrude needs to have Collision/Shape set to Static Mesh (or Automatic (MoDynamics)) – when it’s the default ‘Automatic’ it uses the bounding box of the object – which is a cuboid which surrounds the object – static mesh uses the object faces that are there, it’s slower to calculate but it will give you what you want.

June 4, 2019 at 11:09 pm in reply to: Newbie question about line cut

in the Line Cut tools settings is a check box for Single Line (in R19, R20 anyway) which is off by default ie. you have to check it before it will act as you describe. I don’t have earlier versions to test here so don’t know when it was added. What version are you using?

  • you have a Compositing tag on the Floor with Compositing Background checked. “This option will cause the object to be self-illuminated yet still receive shadows.” says the help. Fine for an object on a blank white floor like the example image in the help but here everything is bright white until you introduce a shadow and it has to darken for the shadow.
