I won’t be able to test OpenGL until I retrieve my machine from the shop.

The artifacts I’m getting look like random additional rows of pixels ( 1 or 2 px high) that push the video up or down to accomodate these in intruders.

I’m not running XP64. I’ll play with OpenGL settings and see if that makes a difference.

If this is a common issue perhaps the changes in the Render Engine are the culprit.

  • If you have Color Finesse installed you can correct against a reference frame. Very useful.

Search for 3G Switch. You have to make a change in the BIOS. I’ve had limited success with this, the BIOS change doesn’t always do the trick.

  • Perhaps Wave World isn’t the appropriate effect. Have you tried Psunami?

  • Have you tried using 2 producer points and an angled line wave shape? Since WW’s perpective is always from above, I assume that you are looking down on the boat.

There are several methods which might work with some experimentation. Particle Playground in the Pro version allows you to control a stream of characters.

Third party effects like Trapcode’s Particular can use any source as a particle.

The Foam effect can use a layer as a particle but you need to control the region the particle occupy using a Flow Map and the particle orientation needs to be controlled by its velocity. In addition each instance of the particle is identical so you may need several layers with the effect applied to achieve the desired result. Foam is applied to Solid layers and uses other Comp layers as a source for the Rendered particle. Set the wobble ammount to 0 otherwise the letters will change shape (may that would be cool.)

I’n not sure what’s going on but I can confirm that H264 from AFX is not as good. I move my files to a Mac and use Compressor 2.

On the Mac with Compressor H264 uses 2 passes and VBR resulting in a cleaner file with few artifacts. Perhaps AT does the same thing.
