You have a VCR and not a VTR? Yeah, a VCR would definitely be the problem. No real video sync. You need to be using at least semi pro gear like a cheap DV camera with TC. Tell us exactly what your setup is.

Somewhere I have the old Aurorix Aged Film filter from DigiEffects. It works(ed?) in FCP and I use to use it all the time. Adds scratches, hair, grain, dust, discoloration, jitter, etc. You can randomize or control each aspect infinitely.
The hair is just the coolest. Nothing like a piece of hair caught in the projector during transfer.

Invest your time in learning the keys. Anytime you’re wondering pull out the cheat in the manuals or just look it up in the keyboard layout.

That’s all nice and fine in Sony’s little machine until you export an EDL. Sorry, but Sony’s internal database isn’t going to follow along. Reel names and TC only. Good luck on that one. Sony would just be creating an even bigger headache by ignoring the problem alltogether.
AT LEAST FCP actually acknowledges the problem so that someone that knows what they’re doing can correct it before it reaches the point in this situation we’re discussing. Yoru Sony machine would’ve created nearly the same problem.
True, at least the tc and reels would be accurate from the Sony, but it would’ve been quite the hassle cueing up tapes by hand since they had multiple occasions of the same tc and non-ascending TC.

Why can’t you just export it from QT as a DV clip?
FCP doesn’t do mpeg video or audio.

Done it many times. Email, CD, whatever. I think you might just be having a little bad luck. Make sure the work version is at least as new as the home version and try again.

Well, in the coming years one of two things will happen. Apple will start producing apps for the windows platform or it will open OSX to run on all intel platforms.
Personally, I think either make a good back up plan for a company. Apple holds all the options. If they don’t cut it as a hardware manufacturer they can certainly be an awesome software manufacturer and compete in the Windows world no problem. I mean, their software is so incredible that people will purchase Apple hardware just to run it.
But the more likely growth potential is for Apple to compete with it’s OS on all intel hardware. They can still have strict hardware requirements and increase their potential market by 1900%. Gotta be tempting.
