  • Where’s the MPEG audio?

    Hi FCP Folks,

Sometimes I’ll come up with a clip off the net which plays fine with QT player – but then I import it into FCP – there is no audio track to go along with the video. Does anyone know of a remedy (or explanation) for this situation?

    Thanks!

I have no explanation for you (basically because I’m lazy and haven’t read up on why mpeg audio doesn’t import with the video), but I DO have a remedy for you!

Download a program called MPEG Streamclip at https://www.squared5.com/

It’s easy to use and it works for me. Oh, and it’s free!

    Cheers.

In the words of Rocket J. Squirrel, “Hokey Smokes!” That is FANTASTIC – or as we say in the summer, “TAN-FAST-IC!”. Thank you SO much! It woks PERFECTLY and does EXACTLY what I was hoping to do – even concerting to DV format.

    You deh MANN!

Why can’t you just export it from QT as a DV clip?

FCP doesn’t do mpeg video or audio.

Hi Bret – Exporting from QT (Pro) was THE first thing I tried. The audio settings are dimmed and it just doesn’t want to let you extract the audio – no matter what – well, as best as I could tell – hence my note to this site. But your question is well-placed – like it wouldn’t be the first time I missed doing something obvious like that. Thanks for responding!
