Ahron Rhabinowitz has a great tutorial on making a film flash and it doesn’t require any stock footage or third party plugins. You can click on his head and see all his tutorials. Its also a podcast.

Watched on my ipod while walking to get pizza the other day. Technology is cool.

If you buy Stage Tools you can have your editor do the pans and zooms in edit and save yourself time and money. It’s a very simple program.

I know this isn’t directly related to you question but thought it might help.

Remember that when converting from 24 to 30 fps you are repeating repeating some of the fields (I can never remember which ones). This becomes a problem when you have slowed down a shot or when a shot pans quickly. Some frames will have fields that are so different from one another it causes a stuttering effect. So you might still get some stuttering even after your pulldown.

  • supposedly Media Composter (and adrenlaine) can handle DVCPROHD but this is contingent on version. MC 2.6 can play it at least. Hate to push another forum but avid forums will definitely settle this in a more specific manner for you.

The way it was explained to me was that it is better to capture 10 bit than 8 bit because when you color correct you have a more finely divided color space and it provides more intermediate steps between colors.

I received this information from someone whose opinion I respect highly so I filed it under “Best Practice”. That said, I can’t tell a difference and doubt that you end viewer will either.

There is a tutorial around to make a logo blow away like sand using particle playground.

Maybe a custom bubble shape using Particular?

Are they mac and you PC? Are you using Stage Tools (screwed me up recently with the same results)? Is there some other 3rd party plugin that you’re using? Are you SD or HDV?

Have you tried cutting the old sequence into a new sequence. Could be that the original seq’ is corrupt. Perhaps they could send you a sequence from the attic or archive that is one itteratation older as long as there wasn’t too much work done.

  • You should probably be logged in as an administrator at all times on Avid.

Have you done this yet? I’m going to be outputting some IMX shows for DCI and was hoping to run the audio on SDI instead of AES.
