Wondering if anyone knows how to do the effect where a redish yellow film looking thing transitions to the next shot. Here is an example… its right in the beginning so dont feel the need to watch the entire thing…

I’m sure its a very simple effect as I have seen it in a lot of videos. Thanks!

It’s a piece of stock footage (film flash or film burn) put over the footage with the transfer mode set to overlay.

I have some from Eyewire I got years ago, but I think now they’re called Getty Images.

If you shoot with a 16mm camera (or other film camera), especially an older one. You get this effect automatically when excess light spills/comes in through the viewfinder.. very nice effect, it should work if you try the way Chase said.

So there should be a stock effect called film flash??? I know there is a cycore effect called film burn, but that just makes a black burning look, not red and yellow. I’ll check to see if I can find film flash.

I think that it is part of the edit effects from Eyewire. We also have this and as previously stated it used with a transfer mode.

if you have a handle on photoshop you can easily make filter files any size using the gradient tool colored to your hearts content, then animate them to taste…

Ahron Rhabinowitz has a great tutorial on making a film flash and it doesn’t require any stock footage or third party plugins. You can click on his head and see all his tutorials. Its also a podcast.

Watched on my ipod while walking to get pizza the other day. Technology is cool.
