Normally a good choice.
But on certain computer gear, it uses “plus” and “minus” AC for a supply, and some kind of “unique” plug to connect it to the unit…
That kind of supply is not very common at RS and Best Buy, etc.
That’s why I suggested a local computer store… they usually DO have the +/- AC types with the “odd” plugs.OTOH, IF the unit uses simply, say, 12vDC 900ma, with a relatively standard “coax” power plug, the “universal” supply would be fine.
Just depends on the unit.

A great way to do this is to use “FCP Rescue” a free Apple Script that will Trash the Preferences for you (and restore nearly all of your user settings afterward).

Please post back with all the “voltage numbers” (volts, amps, watts, AC, DC, etc.) printed on it and I should be able to tell you if you should be able find a “generic” replacement.
And/or, call any local “computer shops” (the home-owned kind) and ask them about it.

What deck do you HAVE?
What deck was RECOMMENDED?Regardless, all HDV decks and camcorders will output TC via FW (along with the A/V), so I don’t know why you’d need one deck over another (unless there was a TECH PROBLEM with the one you have).

Toothpick is OK, but I prefer a bit more substance.
Straighten out a heavy paper clip (not the little ones… use one of the 2-inchers).
Cut its end on an angle with wire cutters so you have a sharp point.
Hold the clip with pliers and heat up its point with a lighter flame.
Then quickly “stab” the sharp end into the edge of the door where the “nib” WAS (not too far).
Let it cool and become “stuck” in the plastic of the door.
Cut off excess clip, leaving just enough to become a “new” metal “nib”.
Remount the door.

That didn’t really answer my question.
I have some fantasic mics I bought for $15 (used).
Is it dynamic, electret, lav, unidirectional, a “ball mic”, etc.
Most recording studios use “Large diaphram Condensor Mics” for VO in the booth.
If you get one of these, you will certainly be on the right track to better VO.
But “good” VO is probably 60% “voice talent and technique,” 30% “mic quality,” 10% “EQ/compression” .

is it a FW external case for the drive? -
