Considering there ain’t no movin’ parts in an IO/et al, and they don’t operate at high temps, I’d say they’d be a great buy 2ndhand. Not selling MINE, of course… go git yer own!

Yeah, but if I understand AJA correctly, the CP can’t be used w/ FCP, so no Proc Amp via software yet. But to be honest, I’ve yet to come across a tape where I’d want to proc the entire input on digz instead of a filter. Guess I’m working w/ better shooters these days. 😉 Sheesh, I remember how estatic I was when I figured out how to save the D2 vid output setting in a hexdex stream embedded in the ACE editor commands. (My boss wouldn’t pay for the remote TBC head. sigh.)

witch #3. i’d change tag to “wickedly”. and how about having the frog pop a piece in his mouth? (i like the frog for the humor he brings, whereas the cat is “expected”) hmmm… maybe the flying corn from “kettle” around witch #3? but mostly, i could see the frog taking a bigger comedy-sidekick role. me, i love humor in adverts.

I was checking out Omnibrain.com (they make 1394 drivers & hardware) – they say that using their drivers for 1394 gives slightly faster speeds via FW400 than gigabit ethernet. Using native 1394 drivers is slightly slower, so I’m going to guess that this method (just a cable, ma) is comparable to Gbit. No doubt more than a few peers would probably kill the speeds, due to packet collisions, etc, on an unmanaged network topology. But it’s great for those of us with just a few CPU’s.

Don’t forget to tell your boss that the cost of all that high-speed connectivity was equal to…. oh…. the price of a new Intuos3 tablet. 😉

You might want to ask AJA about using video from the IO instead of a sync gen… I think it’s a no-no.

I assume you’re using “capture now”… what happens to the first 7 5:00 segments you’ve captured? Have you checked the capture scratch folder? Usually completed clips are there, even if FCP crashes. Try setting your “cap now” limit to 10 minutes or so. Latest drivers, yaddayadda?Bob Woodhead / Atlanta

I’d say the Mac Mini was step 1 towards the MediaMac. Add some video I/O & a tuner….
