  • HELP, serious capture problems

Posted by Dennis Allen on May 17, 2005 at 5:40 pm

I’ve been capturing between FCP HD and AJA Io in s-video and taking about five minute pieces (approx. 1gig.) Every time I get about forty minutes in, the next five minute piece suddenly takes over four hundred gigs then freezes the system. And by the way, my last posting about the AJA Io was not responded to. Very very frustrating.

I assume you’re using “capture now”… what happens to the first 7 5:00 segments you’ve captured? Have you checked the capture scratch folder? Usually completed clips are there, even if FCP crashes. Try setting your “cap now” limit to 10 minutes or so. Latest drivers, yaddayadda?

I have recieved great tech support from AJA when ever I’ve had an issue with my iO. I usually get answers to my questions or problems within a few hours – sometimes right on the spot.

More often than not, the problems have been operator error – yet they are always helpful, polite and courteous. In today’s world of “lip service” about customer support it’s very rare and much appreciated!

    Thanks guys…

Production is fun – but lets not forget: Nobody ever died on the video table!

AJA: This is good info to post up here every once in awhile… for those newer people who may not know this, or someone who may have forgotten.

Having said that, if you do call AJA, you get extraordinary tech support… I’d put it up against anyone…
