Have BCC 2.0 and love the keyer. It’s pretty forgiving with sloppy lit backs.

Cheap is okay as long dependable isn’t sacrificed. Uncompressed Beta SP, 10 bit is demanding. SCSI is dependable, faster than firewire and not as costly as Fibre.

[Bret Williams] “I’ve only had it a week or two, but I’ve filled it half way full and been using it heavily for FCP and DVD Studio Pro without a hitch.”

What type of media are you using??

[Walter Biscardi] “The Kona 2 is pretty much a seamless switch from CineWave.”

I would love to move to Kona. But the money I have budgeted for this year was decided on before Cinewave took a dump. I was hoping to just upgrade the Cine card to RTPRO. Now I need a whole set up. I only have a grand to get a new card. I also would rather stay with the BOB design instead of cables off the card. I could move some dollars from my storage fund to the card fund if I could get the right storage config, as asked in the above thread.

Any thought Walter on a path of least resistance?

    Thanks

August 1, 2005 at 3:51 pm in reply to: MEDIA DATA BASE NOT REBUILDING!

[andy garcia] “what i did when i had this problem is…….. wait for it, this will take you while.

go into your drive and put an x in the omfi folder, create a new folder and name it what ever your old omfi folder was call.
then drag (250 at a time) your media over to this new folder. you will need to boot up the avid programme each time you make a transfer.
if you reduce the avid programme each time you come to make the transfer it will reduce the boot up time.
also only transfer media NOT the old data bases or creative folders.
In doing this for some reason the avid can create a new data base file and also it will find any currupted media files that also might be causing you problems.
This does work, but can take a bloody long time as I found out last week when I had to transfer 22,000 files. “

I have been off on vacation so I am late in getting a update to this. This was done by our creative team and to great success. They were able to locate a currupt file or two. Ity did take long but was worth it. Thanks all for the help!! LONG LIVE THE COW!!!

When I send clips for approval to our sales team. I send the clip to our Art director. She places the clip into Cleaner and uses the Windows Media encoder set at MED 320×240. It ends up being small, but it look great.

Okay let me change my mind here. What I actually get when I click the “T” is the ad banner at the top, then the list of posters in a box upper left, upper right larger box empty, lower left box empty and lower right box has the threads. Main up/down scroll bar on the right main window and left/right scroll bar under the threads. Ad bar under all that. Main contents bar on the left.
