So the folks from dvMatte have not responded to 2 e-mails asking if their 1.5 is good to go with FCP 5.0.2 and zMatte is not doing the job well either.

Anyone have continuum and can give me some real world opinion on how it handles green screen?

I need to buy by the end of the week.

BTW, tried the keyer in Motion and it is no winner either.

My first negatives re: my FCP system.

Have BCC 2.0 and love the keyer. It’s pretty forgiving with sloppy lit backs.

It’s outstanding and includes the Choker and Matte Cleanup which greatly improve the performance. I think they just updated to BCC 4. At the very least, if you purchase 3.0, you’ll want to download the 3.0.3 updater.

Of course, the quality of the key always depends on the quality of the original video. I just completed a corporate project where the D.P. insisted on shooting green screen with miniDV and then did a poor job of lighting the green screen. I ended up applying about 10 filters (CC, Color Smoothing, 2 layers of Chroma Key, Choker, etc…..) and it’s still not a great key. The client was fine with it as it was just an internal project, but if it was broadcast, there’s no way it would be acceptable.

Okay so add DV to bad lighting and you may have a challenge. Still a great product/.
