Same thing here. I’ve run cleaner and re installed but still getting the beach balls. I get an error message saying a “capable” video driver could not be found. This is a brand new MBP retina. I tried turning off graphics switching and checked the read write permissions of the “Adobe” folder in preferences to no avail.

June 26, 2014 at 6:29 pm in reply to: AJA ioxt with Flanders Scientific Premiere Pro playbackForgive the obvious question – have you tried a different monitor? I doubt it’s the flanders. I recently upgraded to the new CC2014 and playback out of the IoXT is sluggish for me also. I found if I switch audio playback to internal it plays back smoothly. In my case it seems especially bad playing Sony XAVC codec.
I updated CUDA to the latest version, updated the AJA drivers and Adobe plugins and the problem persists.
2 hours on the phone with AJA I’m sure they told you your audio hardware preference should be set to built in? It’s under preference “playback” that you select the IoXT for audio.

June 25, 2014 at 9:31 pm in reply to: Add notes to a range selection and not the entire clip? Thanks guys for the suggestions. I’m still not able to fill in the notes field. I’ve tried clicking on it with every key combination I can think of.
Also – is there anything quicker than this? I’m looking for a solution for logging interviews. I might have 10 or 20 hours of material to log, and all that mousing and keystrokes really add up.

I’m having trouble with playback on my Aja IO XT. I’ve updated the driver and the Adobe plugin. Anyone else having sluggish playback?

Yes, I totally agree with you. The three way color corrector qualifies the 3 areas very crudely, so that when you push highlights a certain way (for example) you can clearly see the dividing line. Most other apps have a more gradual transition throughout the tonal range.
I’ve also wondered if there was a way to adjust this – anyone?

Two things: Yes, you can drag and modify your sub clips. Just hold the option key to lengthen them.
The disappearing markers may be because you need to drag the video track to enlarge it vertically a little. For some reason Adobe hides markers (and opacity keyframes) when the track is at its minimum size.
After trying all kinds of approaches I gave up on markers. With the funky way you have to create in and out points it’s simply too time consuming to create them, and then you have to use the awkward marker window to view the results. It also makes for a messy and confusing timeline.

I’m very interested to know how others log footage in Premiere. After trying lots of approaches, including markers, sub clips, and simply working from the timeline. For b roll, I usually just work from the timeline. Interviews I log in a bin, duplicating each clip as I go along and type notes in one of the comment fields. You can also safely rename the clip (it retains it’s original filename).

You can use markers for syncing up your mulitcam clip. Simply put the CTI over the clips in the timeline, put a clip marker on each clip by selecting the clip individually. You may need to go into Keyboard layout to assign a key for “Clip Marker” (rather than timeline marker). Then select marker as your sync point when creating the mulitcam clip.
Good luck,

Turn the stabilization way down. A very little goes an amazingly long way. The default setting is almost always too much.
