Trying a different slot may work, be aware that the interupt lines on the PCI cards are shared, avoid 1 & 5 as they are shared with the AGP card, slot 2 is used with the LAN, if not using a network, disable in the bios and try a firewire only card in the slot, slot 3 is used also by the serial ATA, slot 4 might be another one you can try.

You have what I was aluding to backwards, perference to HD/HDV over SD as far as processing like Hyperthreading or Multiprocessors, Running some quick tests I find that alot more effects in SD are rendered by multiple processors than used to be, running Auto Level using a AMD X2 4600 runs at approx 30% for both processors in RT, when rendered both processors show 93% and over, with a render time of 00:02:15 for a 5min clip, what effects and transitions are affected will have to wait till I get some free time, the whole exercise would be unnecessary if the proper info was listed somewhere or a statement like Ppro2 is fully dual processor capable in the SD mode.

I’m using QT6.5 with the production studio, I’ve got QT7.1 on a laptop I use for the internet with no problems, since the production studio only requires QT6.5 and there have been a bunch of horror stories I thought I would err on the side of caution.

When does this happen? Playing back on what? is the audio normal and the video slow? Do your project settings match the properties of the audio?

Problem is the native speed of the dual processors as they each would be a single, My understanding is that they only program certain SD functions as dual processor capable, HDV and HD is probably different as they are recommending HyperThreaded Processors or Duals, like I mentioned before Adobe should clarify this.

You said you see the MV and PD in My Computer, is that under a heading of “Scanners and Cameras”?
What kind of firewire card? Have you tried to move the firewire card to another slot?

Hi Derek, I think he’s refering rendering prior to exporting to tape not previewing, all my exports have been one shot deals as I haven’t had to redo a export so I can’t answer his question about rendering before each export to tape.

You gave a figure of $2500, usually the HD1 goes for $1500-$1600US street price, is that $2500 you quoted $AU?
