    Hi!
I know this is not a hardware forum but I thought that among all editing people there might be some that knows a little about the camera market.
I’m eager to jump on the HDV train but as a hobbyist and “low budget” person the only cameras I found affordable for me, living in PAL-land”, are the Sony cams HDR-HC3E and HDR-HC1E.
However, both of them shoot in 1080i and I definately want to leave the interlaced world behind me and shoot in 720p.
Are there any cams available in the sub 2500$ that shoots progressive?
Do anyone know if there are any models soon to come?

JVC 720P camcorders can be used for HDV in Europe, but there are no 576 PAL functions on them

    What models do they have?
I searched the net but all I found was the GY-HD100 (and variants) which has a price tag far beyond my reach, and GR-HD1US which is still a little too expensive.

You gave a figure of $2500, usually the HD1 goes for $1500-$1600US street price, is that $2500 you quoted $AU?

    Hi Blast!
No it was US$ I ment. The site I found quoted 3500 US$ as suggested retail price for the HD1, therefore my response, but if you can get it for 1600 US$ it is definately an interesting product for me. I’ll take a more thorough look for retailers selling that model.

    Thanks very much.
