Ppro doesn’t have a native Mjpeg codec, one should have come with the Intensity card, also you can download the Intensity software at the BlackMagic support page: https://www.blackmagic-design.com/support/ you will see a list on the right.

bwf is still a wav file either a PCM or mpeg layer2 audio file, just with extra chunks in the header, try changing the extension to .wav for use in premiere

To add to Vincent, AAF was supposed to be the new industry standard, Avid was part of the consortium that developed it, the question is why are they dragging their feet.

Try recreating the Plug-in Cache file by holding down the “Shift” key when starting Ppro and keep it down till the Project screen appears, you probably will have to re-do any custom settings in the Preferences.
If that doesn’t clear it, supply your computer specs and if you have made any changes to your system lately, also have you ever set a system Restore point before the problems started? if so use it -
RMVB = RealMedia Variable Bitrate, it is a variable bitrate extension of the RealMedia multimedia container format.
As for editing in its native format it uses a proprietary codec meant for delivery which means it probably someone elses video.
You could search for a RMVB to DV or RMVB to DVavi converter, but it is highly compressed and probably will look like caca,

One reason external drives(FW/USB) aren’t recommemded is the thru-put can vary depending on the number of data streams, over head changes drasticly, FW drives are also device sensitive, wrong combos can cockup the works, also the drive assignment can be changed on a whim by the OS if the drive is removed and replaced, with eSATA the ID assignment wouldn’t change once assigned, if you have a PCMCIA cardbuss II slot there are eSATA(150MB/s) cards made for them or if you have a Express Card slot the same applies except they have eSATA II also

If you want to just cut and join the video you can use something like “VideoReDo” which will accomplish this and burn back to DVD without recompressing.
