premiere pro export
hey guys im trying to export a file but for some reason i dont know how to maintain aspect ratio. i dont want it to be 720 x 480 more of like 400 something, but what size do i do the height by. premiere doesnt maintain the ratio in different sizes so i try to guess and it is all messed up. is there a pixel aspect ratio calculator or something. thanks

What are you trying to export to? tape? a file?

First of all, 720X480 is a standard size, but it uses a pixel that is not square.
For something you want to put on a web site, you want square pixels at a 4:3 ratio if regular video, or 16:9 is widescreen.
A common size is 320X240. Note that both numbers are evenly divisible by eight. That is important. So for about 400, you might be happy with 384X288, or 448X336, or maybe even 480X360.
The Adobe Media Encoder should maintain the ratio for you, but it won’t warn you about being evenly divisible by 8 which increases compression quality.
