Premiere Pro 2.0 can shuttle but not playback video, but the video clips play in Quicktime and Windows Media Player.

I have two computers, one for capturing video and one for editing video.

The capturesystem has a Black Magic Intensity card, and I capture into a compressed mjpeg format. The video will playback in Premiere on the capture system.

The Editing system (twice the power), can shuttle through the video, but it will not playback within Premiere, but has no problem playing in an external player like Quicktime.

I have loaded the same project files into both systems and copied the video into both so it should play locally.

I should point out that the footage is 1080i

Any ideas what might be wrong?

Ppro doesn’t have a native Mjpeg codec, one should have come with the Intensity card, also you can download the Intensity software at the BlackMagic support page: https://www.blackmagic-design.com/support/ you will see a list on the right.

    Thanks for a quick response.

I have already installed the codec on the edit system, which is why I was able to play the video file on the computer. It is in Premiere that it won’t play.

As I menttioned, I can shuttle the file in Premiere, just not play it.

Do you have any firewire device plugged into the problem system??

    Problem Solved!!!

On the editing system, I was selecting a preset project, which required the Black Magic Intensity card. Since the editing system doesn’t have one installed, it wouldn’t play.

The solution was to make a custom project.

    Cheers,
