.vob files
Posted by Chris Burns on April 30, 2007 at 5:59 pmI have been trying to figure out how to bring in .vob files from a DVD to edit them. I can open them in Premiere Elements but not in Premier Pro. Am I missing something? Is there a way to open them in Premiere or AE?
Thanks, Chris- Mn

April 30, 2007 at 7:41 pmLike Steven says you can rename the VOB files, but be aware that not all VOB(mpg) files are created the same, some will work without a hitch, but you maybe deep into a project and have a bunch of mysterious hicups, and not know why, like mike mentions Elements handles VOB(MPG) files much better

It’s not my choice to have to work with .vob files but the raw files were not available. They were of some high school sports and now a days with DVD burnins software, everyone burns files to a DVD with chapters and thinks that these will actually help a person when it comes time to edit.
If I convert these files to mpeg or use them as .vob files is there any resolution loss from the original DV tape footage?
Thanks, Chris- Mn

Yeah, because it has already undergone severe compression and when you finish your editing it needs to be compressed again.
