Usually if I want a .mov from within Ppro I use File->Export-> Movie, under General->file type I select Quicktime, under Video->Sorenson3, Proper frame size, frame rate, and pixel ration, 100% quality, no recompress, the resultant file will be larger than the original, if you want the same size use the “Limit Data Rate” and set to the MS DV Data rate.

720×480 is the SD pixel format for both 4:3 and 16:9, the difference is in the pixel aspect ratio, .89 for 4:3 and 1.2 for 16.9

Check your DVD player settings, that could be causing your problem.

Ppro uses DV out via firewire for previews, If your camcorder has DV->A/V pass through you can use the A/V out to connect to a tv monitor, other wise you can use a DV->A/V converter like Canopus or ADStech.
