Many (but not all) replicators will work from a General DVD-R. Check with the replicator you want to use.

You need a Pioneer DVR-S201 to burn this type of DVD-R. The wavelength of the laser in the burner is slightly different from that used in the DVD-R General burners.

The serial ports on the PC are RS232 protocol and the remote ports on VTRs are RS422 protocol. You can’t connect them together and expect them to work. That’s why you need a protocol converter like the Rosetta Stone to connect them.

The lack of a black generator could be your entire problem. You can get away without one if you’re using only firewire, but it’s a necessity with the professional VTRs. The higher-end Avid systems come with an inexpensive black generator — it’s that important. You can find an inexpensive black generator with multiple outputs for $100-200 at almost any video supply dealer.

You talk about problems with the audio, but what is happening to the video? Is the VTR getting good video from the Mojo? Are the VTR and Mojo both getting good black burst reference? If you are trying to record audio-only without feeding video to the VTR at the same time, that would produce the problem you are seeing.
The red channel condition indicates that you are getting uncoorectable data errors on your tape — big problem!

The data is written to a DVD-R disc using 2048 byte sectors. If a DVD is to have Macrovision, CSS or region coding, a 2054 byte sector is required. These sectors cannot be written to a normal DVD-R, so the only way to create that formatting and get the data to the replicator is via DLT tape.

If you do have a problem, reinstall Adrenaline. As a general rule, if you are installing multiple software programs that require codecs, you want to always install the Avid software last to prevent other installations from screwing with the Avid codecs. (The exception to this is AVX filter packages and other add-ons like Boris Red that require the Avid software to be already present.)

But that is precisely what the scratch removal tool is doing — you are painting using a previous or subsequent frame as the source for the patch. I think it is less tedious to use the scratch removal tool.
